Children's Ministry
Holston View offers Sunday School classes for all ages, from infant to adult. Dedicated teachers work diligently to provide the best in Christian education for our children. During the Morning Worship service, children stay in the sanctuary until after the pastor's children's sermon. At that time, those who wish to may go to the fellowship hall to participate in a program called Children's Worship Training (CWT). During this time, they learn the meanings of the rituals they observe in the worship service. They study and learn the group prayers and responses so they can participate better in the service. Children's choir for ages 3 to grade 5 provides the opportunity to learn to praise the Lord in music through song, interpretive dance, and Krystal Bells (children's handbells). Vacation Bible School is offered for all ages. The program includes Bible Study, music, crafts, recreation and refreshments. A pool party at Yuma Ruritan and participation in Morning Worship round out this event. Confirmation classes are usually provided in the spring. A new approach, tried very successfully in recent years, pairs each child or youth with an adult member who serves as mentor. At the end of the classes, those who are ready to take that step are baptized or confirmed (if they were christened as infants) on Pentecost Sunday. Holston View began a weekdayPreschool Program as an outreach service to the community in 1972 and it has grown yearly. Four classes now meet M-T-W and one meets on T-Th. Mother's Day Out is an outgrowth of the Preschool Program and the same teachers work with both programs. Mother's Day Out is offered each Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Call the church office to make your reservation. A Cub Scout den is now being sponsored by the church. They meet on Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. New members and adult volunteers are welcome.
