The Cub Scout program at Trinity meets every Thursday at 7 PM, except on the days that school is out due to inclement weather, Christmas break and spring break. Our Cub Scout program is led by Cubmaster April Carpenter and has been active since 1960. The Cub Scout program is for boys ages 6-11 and grades 1-5. Our program meets all summer long, when the boys do other fun activities like camping, fishing and hiking in nature. During the year, there are other activities like the Pinewood Derby, Akela Cub Campout and the Scout Expo at Bristol Motor Speedway. We take one outing each year, and in the past we have visited the Knoxville Zoo and Ripley’s Aquarium. Active members are also eligible for discounts to the spring Bush race, NHRA drag racing and Craftsman Truck series. From time to time there are other opportunities available, too.
Scouting is not only about the fun stuff, but about community service as well. The boys always seem to enjoy working, and often don’t even realize it’s work. Each year we have the Scouting for Food drive in November. One Saturday, we drop off bags to area homes for food, and the next Saturday we go and pick up the bags. All of the food is boxed and sent to the Second Harvest Food Bank and is used to help families in our area.
