Scholarships available for
incoming TWC freshman
Tennessee Wesleyan College encourages Tennessee high school seniors, who are planning on attending TWC in the fall, to apply for a scholarship funded by Edamerica. Students must have a high school GPA of 3.25, a 23 composite score on the ACT or 1070 on the SAT, financial need, and community service or leadership experience to be eligible for the yearly scholarship of $6,250. TWC Hosting Scholarship
Competition Day
Tennessee Wesleyan College will host the 1st annual scholarship competition day on Saturday, January 21, 2006.  Applicants can compete for scholarships ranging from $500 to full tuition.  To be eligible, you must first apply to the College. The Jeanette Reynolds Scholarship is available to any student in Holston Conference considering a ministry career in the United Methodist Church. The scholarship is available not only to persons attending seminary, but also to undergraduates considering seminary. The application deadline is May 14. Applications are available by e-mailing Scott Gillenwaters or by visiting the First Oak Ridge UMC Web site . Click on "adult" and then click on "College Student Activities."

United Methodist Communications grants three annual scholarships.

The deadline for application for these scholarships is March 15, 2005. Information about the scholarships is as follows:

  • For Recent or This Years’ Racial Ethnic Minority Graduated Students: The Judith Weidman Racial Ethnic Minority Fellowship is awarded to one recent college/seminary graduate each year. The recipient will spend a year as part of a communications staff in an annual conference office in the United States and will receive a $30,000 salary and benefits. Candidates must be United Methodist to qualify.
  • For Graduate Students (One $6000 award): The Stoody-West Scholarship is a $6000 award for a United Methodist student in post-graduate study at an accredited U.S. college or university who intends to pursue a career in religious journalism. Candidates must be United Methodist to apply.
  • For Racial-Ethnic Minority Undergraduate Students (One $2500 award): The Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship is a $2500 scholarship for undergraduate study in religious journalism/mass communications. Candidates must be United Methodist to qualify.
